So the newest trend on dA is to make species, and that I understand.
Making species is fun, and it leads to opportunities for character designs.
However it isnt cool pulling the whole "this is an original species and if you make something like this I'll report you" deal when most species are so easy to accidentally copy, or are so simple that anyone can make one accidentally.
Most of them are just combined animals with different objects or animals and you get some different result.
For example, Nekoi.
Theyre cute, don't get me wrong, but there are so many species out there that are fish and cats combined.
For someone to put a big ol' "this is mine and you cant use this" thing on something so simple, charge $50+ in real money or points is bogus.
Another one is the water dogs.
Again, theyre cute, but it is literally water and a dog combined.
Anyone can make that off the top of their head without knowing about the species.
If youre gonna make a species that is so simple and/or such a common mixture, than make it an open species or don't even make it a species at all.
Instead just make adoptables of them or something, not claiming anything along those lines as your own.
